Died: July 2, 1919; Buried in Grimes Cemetery, Lucas Co., Iowa Married on December 15, 1849 in Brown Co., Indiana to MARY JANE CALLAHAN (See License to the Left) Born: May 24, 1824; Died: March 1, 1912; Buried in Grimes Cemetery, Lucas Co., Iowa Daughter of Jeremiah Riley Callahan (b. abt. 1800) and Harriet Leach (1801 - ) Jacob and Mary Jane along with the Jeremiah Callahan family migrated west . The two families purchased land in Whitebreast Township at $1.25 an acre and here they settled to till the land and make their homes for the rest of their lives. (From Lucas County Iowa History) The first school was taught by Jeremiah Callahan in a log cabin north of what was later known as Whitebreast Junction. Jacob Admire was a brickmaker by trade and had a kiln. Many of the buildings in the area were made from bricks made by Jacob. CHILDREN OF JACOB AND MARY JANE: 1. MARGARET MABEL ADMIRE Born: September 17, 1851 in Indiana Died: November 28, 1941 in Chariton, Lucas Co., Iowa; Buried in Grimes Cemetery Married to William David Straumbaugh They had two daughters. 2. EDWARD LEMUEL ADMIRE Born: 1857 in Chariton, Iowa Married on April 11, 1880 in Burlington, Kit Carson, Colorado to Mary Magdelene Pettinger Son: John Jacob Admire b. June 5, 1896; d. May 9, 1969 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma |
